Task 1A Professional Profile

As many performers do, I have a lot of different variations of my CV.

My Dancer CV - This includes Performance Jobs, My Training, many details about my self including height, hair colour and length, dress size, shoe size (many things that if you were to apply for a non-dancing job you would never dream of putting on your CV), I also include my skills and the level at which I am in each skill. I never include any non-performing jobs on this CV. This CV is usually paired with a head shot (something else you would never use when applying for a non performing job)

My Teaching CV - This is quite similar to my Dancer CV, but I include more details of teaching work, rater than performing work. I don't include and details such as height, hair colour etc, as for teaching something like your height or dress size should not be an issue.

My 'Normal' CV - This is the CV I use when applying for 'in between jobs' I am sure all performers are aware of these kind of jobs - they are time fillers when you are in between contracts, or auditioning for other work. These kind of jobs are usually bar/restaurant jobs, teaching assistants, retail assistants etc. I usually go more in depth in this CV, listing the types of responsibilities I had to undertake in different jobs, writing a personal statement, I include a mixture of performance & non performing jobs, depending on what I think is relevant for the positions I am applying for.

I have added my Dancer and 'Normal' CV below, as you can see, the layout and content is very different. For the blog profile for task 1A I have decided to use a mixture of these CVs, as I feel my dancer CV is more relevant to the work I do and want to continue to do, but I feel that my 'normal' CV has more of a personal profile on it, I will adapt both my CVs to create my blog profile.

*I have removed any personal details, such as phone number & address from these examples.

  1. Hi Emily
I think your right on your "normal" cv listing your responsibilities and adding a personal statement.
Whenever my friends (non-performance) show me their resumes they seem so different with no photos and personal info. When they go for their job interviews I find I still ask them how the audition was?
